Oral lavage.: One day of a painless white patch may be a mucus plug. If there is no redness and no pain, and it is of recent onset, I would gargle with salt water to try to get rid of it. In the absence of symptoms, I would not worry. If the white patch persists for more than 2 to 3 weeks despite gargling, see an ENT doctor.
