A member asked:

Can a patient with g6pd defiency take asa and if not why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably: G6-PD deficiency is a genetic disorder caused by a lack of a protective enzyme in red blood cells. Most people with the disorder have episodes of hemolysis (RBC damage) caused by oxidative drugs or infection. More rare Class I variants have chronic hemolysis. Outside of Class I, aspirin, which used to be considered risky now is considered safe when used in low doses.
