Maybe : Unfortunately, there's very little data to show it taking birth control pills prevents the formation of ovarian cyst. Many doctors including myself often prescribed them however because it's the only possible remedy we have. There's no harm in taking the birth control pill. You might want to contact your doctor for an ultrasound to see if you indeed have a cyst.
