Training: If a physician, they have completed a residency in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, or internal medicine/pediatrics of at least 3 years (4 for med/peds). Then they can do a fellowship of 2-3 years un adolescent medicine. The fellowship provides additional training in the health issues of adolescents.

Many years: Adolescent health professionals/ physicians obtain a 4 year bachelor's degree, followed by another 4 years to obtain their md. After obtaining a medical degree you must attend a 3 year pediatric residency program followed by a 3 year fellowship program. So in total, 14 years!
