Wait for next stool: Red food color is the most likely cause. Bleeding from stomach does not cause red stool. Should be dark/black since blood from stomach gets digested before it becomes stool.

Red stool: Red stool generally is due to blood from the colon and rectal areas. Hemorrhoids are a common cause. Have your physician examine you as blood in stools is not normal. A stool test in the office can also detect hidden blood.
