Can escitalopram be used as an antipsychotic ? i have major depressive disorder plus symptoms of psychosis.i'v started with 5 mg medication.

Treatment: Escitalopram is an effective antidepressant. 10-20% or major depression can be complicated by psychosis. Standard of care for psychotic depression is antidepressant plus antipsychotic for non affective psychosis ( not psychotic depression) escitalopram is not effective by itself.
