Likely yes, but...: He needs a thorough evaluation by an allergist to determine what he had the reaction to. His symptoms of throat tightness and trouble breathing are not to be taken lightly and could be life-threatening next time he consumes that food. Avoidance needs to be part of his therapy, and that's why the culprit needs to be identified. An epi-pen might not always be handy - better he learns to avoid cause!

Not necessarily: If it is a severe reaction he needs to go to the nearest hospital for care. If not he needs to be evaluated for food allergies.
