Rarely: The carotids are actually a group of three arteries on both sides of your neck. Generally, they don`t weaken or rupture. Rarely, trauma to your neck can cause a rupture or "dissection" of the carotid artery. If you have headache, blurry vision or severe pain see a doctor as soon as possible.
