Almost every wound: will heal faster and with less pain if it is kept clean and covered. Too wet or dry often create problems. Moist wound care is best.

All wounds: should be cleaned gently of debris, no-viable tissue and blood, kept moist and mechanically protected until healed. Leaving "open to the air" is a common mistake leading to re-injury and delay in healing.

Covered: all wounds need to be covered and not left open to air for healing. leaving them open to air will allow the wound to dry out which is not beneficial. has been established since 1960 moist wound healing is needed and is the standard of care.
