Possibility of sprea: Herpes virus is contagious and can spread between the mates, but not always. The only way to find out is to seek advice from your gynecologist and have you both tested for herpes/Types. There is a simple blood test which can check for antibodies(proof of infection) to both types of herpes viruses(HSV1 and HSV2).
