Peripheral nerve: By definition, a polyneuropathy is a bilateral symmetrical problem with nerves in the feet and legs, and perhaps the arms also. Symptoms include numbness, tingling, pain, weakness, and perhaps atrophy. The most common cause world-wide is leprosy, but in the usa, diabetes is most common.
