what do you advise if i want help with my ear pain & pressure?

Dr. Bernstein Joel
ENT and Head and Neck Surgery 60 years experience
Diagnosis: Do you have a hearing loss with the symptoms of ear ache and pressure? If the answer if NO then think of TMD. The side of the face has more than the ear. If the pain at the side of the face is not associated with hearing loss, it is unlikely that the ear is the source of the pain. The pain and pressure could be the result of masseter muscle spasm or arthritis of the jaw. If hearing down ENT.

Ear: Ear pain is often a sign of inflammation. The loud roaring sound is known as "tinnitus", and is the normal ear's response to a sudden change in hearing. I recommend you see an otolaryngologist (ent).

What do you do when you have a constant ear pain?

Dr. David Astrachan

Depends on the cause: The majority of patients who i see with "ear pain" really have pain around the ear. The structures responsible are the jaw joint and jaw muscles. Clenching, grinding, chewing on one side over the other all lead to pain and discomfort. Soft diet, antiinflammatories, ice and a dental evaluation are indicated. Stop chewing gum or crunching ice.

How fast can I make my ear pain go away?

Dr. John Leander Po

Depends-: Have your doctor check it out- outer ear: possibly otitis externa, relapsing polychondritis, or a skin infection on on the ear. Treatment can involve ear drops. If treated, pain can go away a fast as min-hrs middle ear: possibly otitis media, and others. This requires antibiotics by mouth and therefore, can take hrs-days. Pills can be selectively prescribed, making pain go away in minutes.
