A lucid dream is any: dream in which you are aware you are dreaming. It can be positive, beneficial. Vivid nightmares are not so good. When you awaken you may “re-write” nightmares by thinking of different (positive, under your control and desire) outcomes to events in the nightmare. Repeated practice may train your brain to re-write the dreams for you. I have helped myself and many others succeed at this. Best regards

Lucid dreaming: Spontaneous lucid dreaming is usually benign-if you realize you are in a dream while in a dream, you are not going to have something bad happen to yourself. But intentional lucid dreaming produced very bad effects for some in the original studies. Recommend you accept the spontaneous ones as normal variations of dreams.
