Penile veins normal: Penile veins are normal on the top (dorsal) surface of the penis. Varicose veins are not normal on the penis but normal penile veins are often confused with normal penile veins. Varicoceles are enlarged veins of the epididymis. You should see a urologist for an examination and evaluation.

Not varicose veins: Veins on the penis are not varicose veins. Varicose veins do not form in this location. You are likely just seeing prominent dorsal veins of the penile shaft which are very common and not abnormal or diseased. Veins inside the scrotum can become varicose (i.e.varicocoele) but do not affect the penis itself. Seek urology exam if you are concerned about the appearance of the veins.
