Conventional v other: Chronic burning pain is usually neurologic in origin. Sharp pain is often musculoskeletal. You need to determine the source of the pain, ex. nerve impingement at spine vs. diabetic neuropathy, etc. A more precise history & complete physical exam by a good osteopathic dr. could determine the precise cause. Treatments could be manipulation, pain modulators, neuroprolotherapy, etc.
