Surgery: Chest wall deformity come in two basic types. One where the breast bone and ribs is curved inward or pectus excavatum; and where it is curved outward or pectus carinatum (pigeon breast). Pectus excavatum can cause problems with endurance because the heart and lungs have a smaller space to work in. There are cosmetic concerns with both, and both can be repaired with chest wall reconstruction
