Salt water gargle: Salt water gargle and lozenges- numbing lozenges such as chloraseptic or cepacol or even halls will sooth. I like vitamin c lozenges which are soothing and have the healthful benefits of vitamin c.

Sore throat: Almost half of all sore throats are viral, and therefore little in the way of antibiotics. Sometimes early intervention with antivirals (tamiflu) interrupts the course of true influenza, but this is the exception, not the rule. Most viral disease must run its course. For the garden variety sore throat, lozenges, inspiration of moist mentholated steam vapor, rest, and plenty of fluids helps.

Sore throat relief: There are multiple causes for sore throats, so there is no cure-all for the discomfort. If it is viral, some people get relief with salt-water gargles or chloraseptic sprays. Feel better.
