Interesting: I'd guess the range you will find to this question will be 0 to more than a hundred, given that some fortunate people never experience tooth decay and others could get multiple cavities on each of the 52 teeth (20 baby and 32 adult) that we all get. You will also find significant variability depending on age, access to care, and geography. In public health the term dmf is often used for this.
