A member asked:

How much time should warfarin be taken by a patient having a prosthetic tissue valve (carpentier edwards valve)?

Dr. James Brockenbrough answered

It varies: It would depend on its position (what valve it is replacing) and factors that your surgeon and cardiologist would be privy to. The worst thing that could happen aside from an infection would be for the valve to clot off because you were not using warfarin.
