No easy answer: To that question, for several reasons. Depends on the amount of second hand smoke. If you work in a bar or restaurant that allows smoking, you are exposed to high levels of smoke, and relatively short-term exposure could cause harm (respiratory infections, asthma). If it is milder exposure, it may take many years to cause any detectable harm.
