HSV Keratitis: There is variation depending on which layer in the cornea is involved. But generally, an antiviral medication is used, either in oral form or drop form. Steroid drops are used if deeper layers of the cornea are inflamed. The virus is never eliminated, so with multiple episodes of keratitis, a preventative dose of antiviral is continued to reduce future episodes. Good luck.
