A member asked:

Can binge drinking cause vertigo? help please?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: and in some cases it can be permanent. Alcohol damages the small lobes at the very bottom/back of the brain called the cerebellum, which controls movement. Damage to the cerebellum can cause dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, impaired gait and other problems. That's why people stumble and are clumsy when they are intoxicated. Chronic persistent high dose use of alcohol can cause permanent damage.
