Spinal bracing: Spinal fusion is usually performed with internal fixation devices (pedicle screws with rods, anterior fixation plates.). Exceptions include a TLSO immobilizer for lumbar/thoracic spine and a halo device for cervical spine fractures - which requires pins to be placed in the skull. These are usually used after fusion to immobilize and used alone only if surgery is not an option.

I think the question: You are asking is: Can you apply an external fixator under spinal anesthesia? That is a possibility to the lower extremity but it may be dependent on other factors such as other injuries elsewhere and the type of injury directly. An external fixation device also exists for the spine too.
