A member asked:

Is this serious? my baby's born with preauricular tag?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not necessarily: This is common. Some are connected by a thin strand of tissue and can be tied off with suture. Some have a thick base and would be removed when much older with a simple outpatient surgical procedure. Rarely, these tags accompany many obvious defects of the face and require specialty evaluation and care.
