Black box warnings: Typically black box warnings are intended for health care professionals to alert them to potential serious side effects from certain drugs. Physicians always weigh the risks and benefits of prescribing medications but do not always go over every side effect/black box warning that the FDA issues with patients.

Yes: The ER provider will make a decision based on your diagnosis and side effect profile of the prescribed drug. Due to time constraints he or she may not discuss all details. When filling the prescription the pharmacist will discuss specifics with you. If you have reason to believe that you may not be able to tolerate the prescribed drug you can always call back, ask for clarification, alternatives.
