A member asked:

Can docs please explain are braces the only way to fix a clicking jaw?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Braces won't fix: Braces will NOT correct a clicking jaw. Your jaw is clicking due to loose or torn ligaments. Surgery is almost always not recommended. If pain with the clicking, see a trained specialist (eg. orthodontist). If there is no pain forget it. It may or may not stop. No treatment has been shown to be effective for clicking without pain. If someone says otherwise run.
