Aspergers: Typicall there is not a language delay. Such delays are most often seen in autism but it is not unheard of. Here is my take on the spectrum http://www.Youtube.Com/watch?V=xg1ngp1ngds.

ASD 1, formerly AS, : Has "no significant language delay" by old dsm-iv criteria. Language is, indeed, atypical in prosody (inflections, rate, rhythm) ; pragmatics (the conversational, turn-taking aspects of verbal communication). Non-verbal communication is impaired, also. Pedantic ("little professor"), one-sided monologues about narrow, restricted areas of interest ; "hyperlexia" ( early reading) are common.
