Yes.. and No.: Thank you for asking, this is a very common question. Both terms are interchangeable, however, the term sexually transmitted infection is broader and more encompassing. If an infection results in altering normal body function, it is then called a disease. Because many STDs can be asymptomatic, the term STI is used. It's all semantics. The important this is to know your sexual health & get tested.
