Ocular: yes: If you by chance have ocular herpes simplex infection (primarily type 1) then yes there is considerable pain. If there is any question in your mind that your eye(s) may have been exposed to someone with active herpes infection, then have an ophthalmogist examine you right away. The sooner the better for treatment.
