Can be similar: A subchorionic hemorrhage, as identified on ultrasound, can cause vaginal bleeding that can be light spotting to heavy with clots, with or without mild abdominal pain. It can also be asymptomatic and never bleed. It does not always cause miscarriage but does put you at a higher risk. Unfortunately, a miscarriage can have the same bleeding symptoms. The best thing is to have an ultrasound with ob.

Subchorionic bleeds: A subchorionic bleed can be passed usually as old brown blood. Usually there is very little cramping. A miscarriage involves very heavy bright red bleeding with severe cramping. If you are soaking 2 pads with clots every 15 minutes, i would suggest going to the er. Conservative measures including pelvic rest/ no strenuous exercise/ no relations are recommended for both.
