Head trauma: The injury happened several days ago, so the most dangerous time has passed. How was he hit? With fists? With a heavy object? The manner of the injury does make a difference. Did he fall and strike his head or lose consciousness? If the neck pain is present only in the neck (and does not extend into the shoulders or arms) it is possibly local muscle strain and is less worrisome.

Certainly.. He needs: To see his primary care physician for a physical ; neurological exam to determine need for an MRI of the brain to rule out a bleed ;/or of his cervical spine to rule out significant injury. Prize fighters ; american footballers can have subdural hematomas from repeated blows to the head without loss of consciousness, so why not brawlers? Also anger management therapy by a mental health provider.
