A member asked:

Sunken eardrums in both ears. are painful to touch, loss of hearing .feels like theres a hole in my right ear with sand in it. ears will not pop?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Need diagnosis: Sunken ear drums can only be identified by a physician. Usually that means a negative pressure in the middle ear. You can not personally touch the ear drum so what do you mean when you say "tender to touch". If you mean the outer ear is tender to touch, that may indicate an infection in the outer ear (external otitis). You need a more specific diagnosis by an ENT doctor.
