Parathyroid surgery: You should expect to recover in 1 to 2 weeks. You can take the medications prescribed to you from the hospital for pain. You should wait at least 5 days after surgery to take lodine (etodolac).

Iodine, etc.: There is no time restriction on taking iodine. As for the anti inflammatory, you should ask your surgeon.
