"Menopause" under 40: When ovarian function has temporarily or permanently ceased before the age of 40, that is the definition of premature ovarian failure. Since it may actually be temporary, and not permanent failure, some experts now call it premature ovarian "insufficiency". If you or someone you know has it, be sure to see a board certified re for proper treatment.
