A member asked:

I have uti had a check up and got medicine from the dr. small amount of medicine remaining to finish. how long it takes to treat.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Finish meds: An uncomplicated lower urinary tract (involving bladder, not kidneys) infection usually can be successfully treated with 3 to 5 days of appropriate antibiotics. The doctor may prescribe a longer course of treatment if the infection has been present for a prolonged time or if it recurrent. Unless the medication is causing a problem, i would advise finishing it to be sure the infection is eradicated.
