Pregnancy: Implantation bleeding is a possibility if you were not taking birth control reliably over the last few months. Emergency contraception is effective within 72 hours of sexual intercourse that is unprotected and should used if pregnancy is not desired. Emergency contraception does not cause abortions and there is no risk to the pregnancy if it is unsuccessful. Irregular cycles however are very common and i would only use emergency contraception (plan b) if you were not on birth control at the time.
