Possible deviations: Criteria for as include "no significant delay in language at age 3-4, " but they don't say that "deviations" do occur.Vocabulary & fund of knowledge may seem precocious when the child talks about his particular interest, often thomas the train. There are deficits in pragmatics -conversational turn-taking skills, prosody-inflections of speech & in answering on-topic , e.g. "how are you?" "four".
