I sit crossed legged with feet under thighs. It feels comfortable for me but I have pain in my knee and thigh intermittently. What could be causing this? What would this do to my knee and thigh?. I never have this on left side?

I woke up one week ago with pain in knee/ leg. Walking makes it get worse, pain radiates from knee to left inner side of leg down the back of calf. It is heavy feeling and when I relax and sit down it gets some better, nothing helps. Xray normal?
