ESSENTIAL TREMOR: It might be worth a visit to a major referal center with a large movement disorders clinic (columbia university in nyc for example) use of beta blockers, Mysoline (primidone) and Klonopin with careful titration might spare you the sedation. There are other approaches (sugery-magnetic stimualtion of the brain, biofeeedback, weighted utensils) that might help. Get a second and even third opinion.

Added thoughts: Agree with dr weissman, and here are some added approaches. Medication may be tolerated if you use once daily Gralise or twice daily horizant. Many of my patients use weighted bracelets, which seem to be very useful in stabilizing motions. In rare cases, good responses have been achieved from dbs procedures. Best of luck.
