A member asked:

I started enbrel (etanercept) for as last may and had great results, but it took three months. i had to stop in jan. for two surgeries. going back on now. is it likely to take as long to be close to pain free?

Possible: If your system has " cleared" the response to the medicine it may take as long but receptors may also be "ready" and " primed" for the drug already.

Depends: It likely depends how bad of a flare you had while off of the enbrel (etanercept).A more severe flare may take a few weeks longer on Enbrel (etanercept) before you are pain-free compared to if you have a mild flare if you are only taking it weekly, ask your rheumatologist if he/she recommends increasing frequency of dosing to twice per week for the first 3-4 doses to get you feeling better sooner.Consider nsaids for 2-3wks.
