Staph: In a world where staph infections are actually life threatening yes you should get these abscesses evaluated.

Yes: First start with warm compress (wash cloth will do), gently place it on the area for 20min at a time. Repeat this 3x/day. This will help to soften the boil. Do not lance or puncture it. If it weeps, allow it to do so. If it resolves in 2-3 days there is no further treatment needed. If it grows, becomes hard, painful or doesn't resolve, please see a provider for evaluation.
