A member asked:

Tendons/muscle on lateral side of forearm near the elbow spasm, swell, hurt and is tender. x-ray and ultrasound show nothing is wrong. what may it be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tennis elbow?: Might be inflammation at the origin site of the extensor tendons on the lateral epicondyle of the elbow. Ultrasound and xray would be normal; an MRI would likely show some edema/swelling there in the form of increased t2 signal, but this expensive test may not be necessary. You may just need some rest, ice, and possibly anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen. See doctor though if it continues.
