Many do: When and if a gbs infection is picked up early and treated quickly with antibiotics, most infants will grow up with little long term sequellae. If the infant was infected prior to or during labor, there is a greater risk of complications or death. Those infected after birth, have less risk but require early diagnosis and treatment to get the best outcome.
