Good question: Well, it all looks hard to me. The first part of labor, when your cervix is opening, involves painful contractions for a number of hours. Pain meds or an epidural can be used here to reduce or completely remove the pain. When fully "opened" you will need to use your abdominal muscles to push your baby out. This can be some pretty hard physical work for 1-3 hours until the baby is out.
