Gestational dm: You may not be diabetic postpartum, but you are predisposed to hyperglycemia so I would consult with your obgyn for a referral to a nutritionist and possibly an endocrinologist.

Not necessarily: Not necessarily, but there is a higher risk. After pregnancy, 5-10% of women with gdm are found to still have diabetes. Women with a history of gdm have a 35-60% chance of developing diabetes in the next 10-20 years, especially non-caucasian women. Through lifestyle changes (healthy eating, exercise), this risk has been shown to be lowered. Best of luck to you!
