Genetic screening: The quad screen measures 4 different substances in the mother's blood and calculates the statistical likelihood of the baby being affected by various abnormalities such as Down syndrome and spina bifida. This is a screening test only and does not tell you if the baby does or does not have the condition. If it is positive, it may help you and your doctor decide if additional tests are needed.
