Pregnancy: Braxton hicks contractions are normal. Vaginal burning is not common and warrants to be checked for urinary tract infection or vaginal infection (bacterial vaginosis, etc.).

Not unusual: Braxton hicks contractions are normal tightening muscular contractions that occur at the fundus(top) of the uterus usually in the 3rd trimester. These contractions are not the type that move the baby out of the uterus. They are not severely painful and not associated with back labor or breaking of water. Labia pain occurs due to increased pressure in the pelvis from the enlarging pregnant uterus.
