It depends: Unprotected sexual intercourse does put you at risk for sexually transmitted diseases. Herpes is one of them. Herpes typically presents wtih small, blister like lesions around the genital area. They are often painful to the touch as well. I would recommend a physical exam by your primary care doctor where s/he can take appropriate swabs to check for the presence of herpes.
