If you understand...: Bipolar disorder is a chronic condition. It can successfully treated but not cured. The severity of bipolar disorder varies amongst patients. It is commonly associated with anxiety disorders. Without successful treatment both can have significant impact on quality of life.

Not easy: It depends a lot on how you feel about and know about this person, ; your own emotional health and self-insight as well. It may be quite challenging ; not something to undertake lightly. What insight and commitment to treatment does this person have? If they are not "with the program" then that is cautionary. Guard against the temptation to become their therapist or to try to "fix" them.

Demanding: If you enter into this relationship as mentioned the bipolar disease is a lifelong challenge for both of you. You need to be willing to make that kind of commitment for what can be a very challenging and difficult illness. If you do, trust will be a major issue, your partner may not always realize how their disease affects their behavior and you will need to make sure they follow thru with tx.
