Gastroneurologist: If you truly are only passing stools less than once a month, you need to be evaluated by a gastroenterologist. Even without this problem, you should have a colonoscopy since you are above age 50, but you may need other tests in addition. You can eat more fiber in the meantime. This is important. Do not delay seeking a gastroenterology appointment. Good luck.
